| Abstract | O bioma Cerrado é adaptado à ocorrência natural do fogo, quando atividades antrópicas não fragilizam a relação fogo-diversidade ecológica. Os órgãos ambientais utilizam como principal fonte de monitoramento séries históricas de focos de queima de vegetação obtidos por satélites; entretanto, análises são necessárias para definir locais críticos para atuação das brigadas. Neste sentido, o escopo desse artigo foi identificar e avaliar a recorrência de queimadas e incêndios no bioma Cerrado, no período de estiagem (junho, julho e agosto). A recorrência de detecção de fogo ativo foi elevada na região MATOPIBA, no nordeste do estado do Maranhão e em algumas terras indígenas. Este trabalho apresenta resultados que subsidiam a identificação de áreas de interesse para prevenção intensiva aos incêndios. Por outro lado, a compreensão das causas do fogo e a redução de seus efeitos só poderão ser obtidas com estudos locais. ABSTRACT: The Cerrado biome is adapted to the natural fire occurrence, when anthropic activities don't weaken the ecological fire-diversity relation. Environmental agencies use as a main source of monitoring the historical active fire data series obtained by satellite; however, analyzes are necessary to define critical locations for firefighters action. In this sense, the scope of the article was to identify and evaluate the recurrence of fires in the Cerrado biome during the dry season (June, July and August). The recurrence of active fire detection was high in the MATOPIBA region, in the northeast of the state of Maranhão and in some indigenous lands. This work presents results that highlight areas of interest for intensive fire prevention. However, the understanding of the causes of the fires and the reduction of their effects depend on studies at a local scale. |
